We are dedicated to the restoration and
preservation of fine-quality pianos
Basic Rebuild Package Description
TEARDOWN: After inspection, the piano is completely
disassembled. Strings, plate, block, pins, and the action are
removed.
HARDWARE: All the hardware, including the casters, is
thoroughly polished and prepared to look new and to match
original factory specifications.
PEDALS & TRAPWORK: Pedals and Trapwork are adjusted,
bushed, repaired or replaced as appropriate.
NEW BRIDGES / BRIDGE REPAIR: The bridge is one of the most essential elements of good piano tone. Each bridge is thoroughly
inspected and either repaired or, at option, replaced to original specification.
SOUNDBOARD REPAIRED: Each board is thoroughly inspected. If seams or cracks are found in the piano, each one is then routed out
and a new piece of spruce laid in. We even go to the extent of re-graining and staining to attempt to match the original
board's color and appearance. Of course our number one concern is tonal reproduction. In addition to board repair we
also make all necessary repairs and adjustments to the ribs. Ribs are repaired and re-glued prior to repairing any
cracks or seams.
PLATE STRIPPED: After being inspected for cracks and verification of structural stability, the plate is completely
stripped and prepared for primer.
PLATE PRIMED: In order to obtain a good color and appearance, the plate must also be thoroughly primed in order to
accept the final color and lacquer finish.
KILN DRIED: All remaining components, including all case parts, soundboard (still in piano) and bridges are placed in a
drying room where the moisture content is lowered to an optimum level for remanufacturing and repair.
CASE STRIPPING: After the moisture content is brought down, the piano and all its case parts are thoroughly stripped
and prepared to accept primer and the final finish.
CASE PRIMER: In order to accept the multiple coats of lacquer and finish applied to the piano, all case parts are coated
with a special primer designed to accept the finish properly.
CASE REFINISHED: We use only the highest quality finishing materials, including lacquer, polyurethane and polyester.
The final finish is determined based on your specifications. Once the color and finish have been applied and allowed to
dry properly each piano is then meticulously hand rubbed to gain the optimum sheen.
NEW PIN BLOCK AND PINS: Each piano receives a new custom made pin block cut specifically for the piano and to
original factory specification. The block is then drilled and the new pins driven into place once the plate is installed.
NEW STRINGS: Each piano receives a completely new set of custom-made strings. Both the table and bass are
replaced.
KEYTOPS: Keytops are restored either by cleaning/improving ivory or installing new keytops at option. Ebonys are
repainted or can be completely replaced at option.
KEYBUSHING / KEY-BED FELT: All keys, both front and centers, are rebushed. New key-bed felt (front, center and
back rail) is installed. Polishing balance rail pins is also included.
HAMMERS / SHANKS / FLANGES: New hammers, shanks and flanges are installed.
WHIPPENS: Whippens are refurbished / repaired as necessary.
MISC: Repair damper under-levers -- Dampers are re-felted -- Damper wires polished -- Damper guide rail is re-
bushed -- New back-check leather is installed -- New regulating button felts are replaced as necessary -- New
damper lifting felt is installed as necessary -- Overall action regulation and tightening including center pin work and
flange replacement as necessary – Repairing and refinishing bench if requested
LOGO / LABEL REPLACEMENT: One of the final touches to any rebuild is the reapplication of all soundboard and
fallboard logos, lettering, and serial numbers to the action and plate. All are replaced to match the original lettering and
stenciling unless otherwise specified by you.
TUNING: In addition to a basic chip tuning when the strings are applied, each piano will be tuned at least 4 times prior to
preparation for delivery to you.

Player Piano Installation
A popular service we offer would be to install a player mechanism in your piano during the rebuilding process. Since not
everyone plays the piano, these installations can bring life to your instrument without damaging their value or integrity.
In today's market, player piano installation is increasing the value of instruments by making them appeal to a greater
audience. These systems play either compact discs or by a direct internet interface and are ideal for almost any piano.
A wide variety of song titles are readily available including ragtime, classical, and contemporary music.
